Optimal Channel and Power Allocation for Secondary Users in Cooperative Cognitive Radio Networks - (Invited Paper)

چکیده
Cognitive radios are a natural evolution of Software Defined Radios (SDRs) that are supposed to be equipped with the ability to learn their RF environment and reconfigurability. A cognitive radio can communicate over a primary user’s channel as long as the introduced interference does not degrade the primary Single-to-Interference-plusNoise-Ratio (SINR) below its minimum Quality of Service (QoS) requirement. Previously, node cooperation has been applied to cognitive radios to achieve improved spectrum sensing performance. In this paper, on the other hand, we employ cooperation in data transmission in order to increase the secondary transmit power limit. Thus, the secondary user will achieve a higher SINR and the primary will gain additional spatial diversity, leading to increased sum-rate. We present, in this paper, an optimal power allocation scheme for secondary users in order to achieve maximum SINR. We show that the optimal channel assignment problem that maximizes the sum-rate can be solved via the so-called Hungarian algorithm at a cubic complexity order. Also, we develop a suboptimal algorithm that permits to solve the channel assignment problem with a quadratic complexity order and with only a slight performance degradation compared to that of the optimal solution.

متن کاملOptimal Power Management to Minimize SER in Amplify and-Forward Relay Networks
This paper studies optimal power allocation to minimize symbol error rate (SER) of amplify-and-forward cooperative diversity networks. First, we analytically solve optimal power allocation problem to minimize SER for three different scenarios, namely, multi-branch single-relay, single-branch multi-relay and multi-branch multi-relay cooperative diversity networks, all subject to a given total re...
متن کاملA Novel Cooperative Mechanism for Cognitive Radio Networks
As the demand on frequency spectrum grows rapidly, cognitive radio technique becomes a hot research problem and a promising approach to increase the efficiency of spectrum utilization. In this paper, we consider the problem of spectrum sharing among one primary user and multiple secondary users and secondary user’s power control by a cooperating method, where the primary user select a proper se...
متن کاملOptimal Power Allocation for Multichannel Cognitive Radio Systems Using Stackelberg Game
We consider a non-orthogonal multiple access scheme e.g. CDMA based cellular multi-channel cognitive radio network (CRN). Here multiple secondary users share a common set of channels simultaneously. For such an environment, we develop a distributed power allocation approach based on a game theoretic formulation among secondary users to satisfy their rate requirement. We model the problem using ...

—In this paper, we investigate the dynamic rate allocation for multipath routing with the node-disjoint paths in cognitive radio ad hoc networks composed of selfish secondary users (SUs) which are unwilling to forward the packets. We model the path stability factor of each path under a certain traffic session by distributing available channel in view of the carrier frequency of the available u...
